Weekly Song Log Report

The purpose of this page is to keep us up to date on what songs have been sung and led by our congregation over the last 2 weeks, to show what new songs (to us, at least) have been introduced, what songs have been "brought out of the basement" so to say, etc.  It is also meant as an encouragement for us to continue in this work that we song leaders have in the Lord (1 Co 15:58).

Each week we will show updated lists, etc., showing us what we sang.  This will include a three-month snapshot, a 13-week service summary, and song stats for the previous 3 months.  These will be added each week to THIS blog page so we can continue to have the information available (and to save paper and printing costs).  To be able to see further back in time, follow this link to the "Weekly Song Log Report - Compilation: 3-Dec, '23 to Present" page.

It is the opinion of this writer that the ideal would be that we do not repeat songs too often, perhaps once every one-to-three months.  However, repetition may be unavoidable (we're learning a new song; a lesson has come up that demands we once again sing a song we sang last week; one of our song leaders knows a limited number of hymns).  As such, the Ephesian/Colossian Imperative overrides this writer's opinion: that we let the Word of Christ dwell richly within us, leading everyone to sing and make melody with our hearts to the Lord (with thanksgiving) with all wisdom to teach and encourage one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Eph 5:19; Col 3:16).  As such, as I always try to encourage us, I further admonish, "Teach the Word (2 Tim 4:2)" in song (~Eph 5:19, Col 3:16).

This day, West End held the Area Wide Singing for our area. After a few announcements and an opening prayer, brother Andy Basford started us off with #998 "May I Run the Race" and #1011 "Remember Me [Nehemiah's Song]." He was followed by brother Jeff Greene from the Lemay congregation who led us in #543 "Redeemed [Sweet Is the Song]" and #571 "Seeking the Lost," while also giving us some info about our next Area Wide Singing (on August 22, at the House Springs congregation). After him came brother Richard Notgrass to lead us in #757 "Where No One Stands Alone" and #150 "Follow Me." Brother Jordan Pugh then took over and led us in #660 "There Is a Habitation" and #866 "I Will Call Upon the Lord."
